Why am I tired during the day? Are you napping too much? If your answer is “YES” then it’s possible all this napping is the reason you feel so tired!

If you find yourself asking “Why am I tired during the day?” I’ll answer your question with a question.  Are you napping too much? If you find yourself napping during the day more often than you’d like, we would recommend you firstly seek some medical advice.  But if there really isn’t a plausible reason WHY you feel the need to nap so much and yet you’re still tired all the time, then maybe it’s all this napping that is making you tired!  It becomes a vicious cycle because you’re confusing your internal clock by napping a different times at various lengths during the day, which will make you MORE tired at night and hence you’ll feel like a nap (or two ) the next day.

If you think your napping might be a bit out of hand, there are a few things you can do to reduce irregular or long naps.

  • Try not to nap at different times every day. Naps that are short and consistent are generally better for you than longer naps that are less frequent.
  • Try to set a regular schedule for napping. If possible, stick to the same time every day for your nap. This will help your body get into a regular rhythm and make it easier to wake up afterwards.
  • Make sure you have a comfortable place to nap. A dark, quiet room is generally best for napping, so find a spot that meets those criteria and make yourself as comfortable as possible.
  • Another helpful tip is to make sure you get enough exercise during the day. This can help improve your energy levels and make it easier to stay awake during the day.
  • Finally, try to stick to a regular sleep schedule at night. Go to bed at the same time / wake up at the same time. This can help ensure that you’re getting enough rest so that you don’t feel the need to nap during the day.
