1. Get Enough Sleep

Most adults need around 7-8 hours of sleep per night in order to feel rested and well-rested.  Sleep is crucial for both physical and mental health. When you don’t get enough sleep, it can affect your mood, concentration, and energy level.

If you find it difficult to fall asleep or stay asleep, there are a few things you can try, such as establishing a regular bedtime routine, avoiding caffeine and electronic screens in the evening.  Ensure your sleeping environment is also dark, quiet and cool.

2. Eat Healthy

What you eat can affect your physical and mental health. Eating a diet that is high in processed foods, sugar and unhealthy fats can contribute to anxiety and depression.

Make sure to include plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean protein in your diet. And don’t forget to stay hydrated by drinking enough water throughout the day!

Eating nutritious food helps your body to function at its best and can also boost your mood and energy levels.

3. Be Active

Exercise is not only good for your physical health, but it can also improve your mental wellbeing.  A moderate amount of exercise is the key – too much or too little can actually have negative effects on your mood.

And if you can’t seem to find the time or motivation to exercise, try incorporating physical activity into your daily routine in small ways, such as taking a brisk walk during your lunch break or going for a bike ride with your family on the weekends.

Exercise releases endorphins, which have mood-boosting effects.  Even just a 30-minute walk can help improve your mood and calm anxiety

4. Take Breaks

When you’re feeling overwhelmed or stressed out, take a few minutes to yourself to relax and rejuvenate.  Take a hot bath, read your favourite book, or take a walk outdoors – whatever brings you peace and happiness.

And don’t forget to schedule regular vacations throughout the year too! Just a few days away from work and a break from your current environment can do wonders for your mental health.
